What is our aim?

Consumers: Through the Krajina živá portal, we want to present nature-friendly farming to the general public and so increase consumer interest in local food produced with respect for the environment. To this end, we have created a map of responsible farmers, which we are constantly expanding with new businesses. We also showcase the best examples of good practice through the award Living farm.

Farmers: In the Krajina živá programme we also focus on the farmers themselves, who care not only about producing food but also about the state of the landscape they manage. Our aim is to build a community connecting farmers, conservationists, naturalists and other interested groups. Krajina živá therefore also serves as a platform for learning from each other and sharing experience, as well as for solving practical and bureaucratic problems.

Why do we do it?

You, the farmers, have shaped the character of our landscape for centuries. Its resilience and diversity lie in your hands. Among you are those for whom production is not the only priority, and for whom the state of the landscape you look after is just as important. Despite the obstacles, on your own initiative you are restoring grazing on abandoned meadows, planting windbreaks and tree avenues, preserving field copses, retaining water in the landscape, treating the soil with care, and aiming to produce high-quality local food.

We believe that this kind of farming deserves to be talked about more, that we need to create space for sharing experience, and that we should actively support farmers who lovingly care for the landscape and biodiversity.
