Slobodné vinárstvo

Slobodné vinárstvo received the Farma živá award in 2025.

The family winery is based in Zemianske Sady, on the edge of the Danubian Hills. Here they restored historic vineyards, continuing a family tradition of grape growing that was forcibly interrupted by collectivisation. Their wines are made on loess soils, which give the varieties a unique character.

Grape growing and winemaking

They manage 17 ha of vineyards organically and are gradually converting to biodynamics. They favour high vine training, natural fermentation and minimal intervention. In making its wine, the winery follows the Charter of Authentists. The grapes ferment spontaneously – in stainless steel tanks, Slovak oak barrels, clay amphorae and plastic ovoid tanks. No additives, no manipulation, with an emphasis on authenticity.

Community and activities

Their approach combines respect for the soil, observation of nature and free thinking. They are members of the Autentista and Demeter CS associations. They distribute their wines at home and abroad and regularly organise meetings of winegrowers and wine lovers called GAVALIER. Their aim is long-term landscape stability, more resilient farming techniques and cultivation that respects the changing climate.
